At ADP we were having a large number of problems directly or indirectly related to memory leaks. Often systems were going into unresponsive state and then crashing with a restart. Continuous memory monitoring was deployed and applications on systems were restarted over the period of time. This was a causing an issue with overall capacity planned for the farm. Also this was an overhead on the maintenance of the box.

Idea was developed to help the development with more information on leaks. Many options and path were explored before AMPolice was designed and developed.
